Just discovered your blog thanks to Doug Belshaw. How nice to see that there are teachers in England who are embracing social media. I have linked to your blog from my Ardent Student blog which tracks my learning exerience as I work towards my Master's degree in Education (I also blog more generally at Karyn's blog http://karynromeis.blogspot.com, if you're interested).

For my ICT in Teaching and Learning module on my course, I am researching what changes people have made to their teaching and learning techniques using technology and social media. Please would you consider visiting to tell your story? You'll find the post at: http://karynromeis.edublogs.org/2006/10/08/teaching-and-learning-with-technology/

[...] Find of the week happened just now, actually, when I came across Tom Barrett’s blog - ICT in my Classroom. The great thing is that Tom’s a Year 6 teacher in a primary school - wait for it… in England! Sutton-in-Ashfield, which is not too far away from me, if I’ve read between the lines in his class blog correctly. And here was I thinking the edublogosphere was dominated by Americans and the odd Scot. Tom’s blog gives great examples of how even fairly straightforward ICT ideas can be used to good effect. Take his Flickr picture annotation post, for example. Other teachers can easily discover what this pioneer in ICT in primary education is doing. Fantabulous. [...]

Hi Tom,

Just discovered this blog, your class blog and your wikis. Great stuff! Am I right in thinking you're in Sutton-in-Ashfield? If so, it's good to know there's someone so forward-thinking and dynamic so close to Doncaster! :-)
